The Life We Planned: A River Lights Romance

For twenty years, Nicole and Eric believed love could overcome anything-even a fifteen-year age gap.

And it did. Until retirement.

When Eric retires as Fire Chief at sixty-five, he imagines a future filled with travel, lazy mornings, and time together. The only problem is that Nicole, at fifty, isn't ready to leave behind the career she still loves. What begins as a disagreement about the future soon becomes a question neither of them expected to face:

What happens when two people who love each other want different lives?

Needing time to think, Nicole moves in with Camille, Eric's fiercely independent sister. Across town, Eric finds himself sharing a house with Will McNeil, Nicole's brother, who has just returned to Canada after twenty years in Australia.

As Nicole and Eric struggle to find their way back to each other, old feelings begin to resurface between Camille and Will-a man she never quite forgot and a mistake she has spent two decades trying to ignore.

With a marina changing hands, family loyalties tested, and hearts forced to confront the choices they never planned for, two couples discover that love isn't always about following the path you imagined.

Sometimes it's about finding the courage to create a new one.

"They thought retirement would bring them closer together. Instead, it changed everything."

A later-in-life romance about second chances, family, and discovering that the future doesn't always look the way we planned.
